Effective date: March 16, 2026

Last updated: March 16, 2026

Pip Jar is built to help families and educators support kids with encouragement, consistency, and clear progress. We take privacy seriously and work to collect only the information needed to provide the app safely and effectively.

Pip Jar ("we," "our," or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Pip Jar app, website, and related services.

Pip Jar is designed to help parents, guardians, educators, and caregivers support children through routines, goals, rewards, and shared progress. By using Pip Jar, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

Account information: When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, password or sign-in credentials, and your account role (such as parent, guardian, educator, or caregiver).

Child profile information: To provide app features, we may collect information you add about a child, such as their first name or nickname, an avatar or profile image, routines, goals, tasks, rewards, and classroom or family group connections.

App activity and usage information: We collect information about how the app is used, including tasks completed, rewards earned/redeemed, timer activity, shared progress between caregivers and educators, and feature usage.

Device and technical information: We collect limited technical data to maintain app security and performance, such as device type, operating system, app version, crash reports, and diagnostic data.

Communications: If you contact us for support, we may collect your name, email address, message contents, and any provided attachments.

2. How We Use Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and operate Pip Jar.
  • Create and manage accounts.
  • Support routines, rewards, timers, and progress tracking.
  • Enable family sharing and educator collaboration.
  • Send rewards to the Parent Wallet.
  • Improve app features, reliability, and user experience.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Maintain security, prevent misuse, and enforce our terms.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. How Information Is Shared

We do not sell personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following situations:

With authorized users: Information may be shared with people you invite or connect with in the app, such as parents/guardians in a shared family account, educators connected to a child's progress, or other authorized caregivers.

With service providers: We use trusted third-party service providers for hosting, authentication, analytics, database storage, customer support, and crash reporting. They may access information only as needed to perform services on our behalf.

For educational compliance: We support educators and schools in their compliance with student privacy laws, including FERPA, by ensuring that student data shared by educators is restricted to authorized caregivers and school staff.

For legal or safety reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, or if necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of our users, our services, or others.

In a business transfer: If Pip Jar is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Pip Jar is intended to be used by parents, guardians, educators, and caregivers to support children. Child profiles must be created and managed by an authorized adult.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Children should not create independent accounts unless explicitly permitted by the app and actively verified by a parent, guardian, or educator. We aim to limit the collection of child data strictly to what is necessary to provide the app's core features. If you believe a child has provided personal information without proper authorization, contact us at hello@pipjar.app, and we will review and delete the information.

5. Rewards, Wallet, and Timer Data

Pip Jar allows adults to assign and manage rewards, including cash-based rewards, time-based rewards (like screen time), and custom incentives. We store reward and timer activity so caregivers and educators can stay coordinated, track earnings and redemptions, and remain on the same page across shared accounts.

6. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, unless required to keep specific data for legal, security, or operational purposes.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access your information, correct inaccuracies, request data deletion, object to certain processing, or request a copy of your data.
